This young entrepreneur resembles the unprecedented face of some of Oman’s most competitive and challenging business men. He graduated from the Sultan Qaboos University in the year 2002, earning a BSE in Mechanical Engineer.
This realization was never enough and so he yearned to pursue his higher education in the same field of engineering with a different emphasis where he received his master’s degree in industrial engineering in early 2006. Straight after completing his post graduate program, he moved on to join Oriental Group in the same year as an assistant project manager. With the capabilities that he possessed, he managed to excel and exceed management expectations applying all the theoretical years of education into practicality by introducing new techniques that were applied and used in Oriental Group until today.
After a year and a half of working as Assistant Project Manager, he was then promoted to hold the post of Vice Chairman because of the many changes that he had implemented throughout the Group resulting in nothing but success. This was a challenging role that he had undertaken due to the fact that Group encompassed over 10 separate branches acting as individual entities. He continued to surpass all the obscurities that the group had faced internally as well as overcoming the economic downturn and financial instability that the country experienced in the year 2008.
Ali has proven to be a highly competitive professional and still believes that every day is a turning point in life where decisions need to be made and hesitancy cannot be tolerable. Initially, Ali was the sole person in charge of most of the operations in the company such as the finance and HR departments, management supervision as well as the engineering aspects of the company.
In 2006, the company was facing a restructuring phase where Ali grasped the opportunity to implement his previously written thesis assignment done for his final project at university. In his thesis, he illustrates optimizing the recipe of manufacturing blocks. Little did he know that after a few years he would be able to implement his passionately written assignment throughout the entire Group. This project proved to be a success yet again saving the group costs of over 15%, by using the preventive method in the maintenance department. This achievement paved the way for employees at Oriental to become much more punctual, efficient, and disciplined and highly reduced down time. With his open door policy, Ali has managed to create an unbeatable team where responsibilities where known and transferring knowledge between the management and departments was cherished.
Ali’s utmost concern was to ensure customer satisfaction. As a result of his concern, Oriental Group has gained and maintained a solid market share with extremely satisfied customers for over 30 years. One of the suggestions that have contributed towards Ali’s professional success was the checkpoints he made that allowed him to stop and reflect back on the processes and procedures ensuring that things were moving down the right track and going as expected. This has made him avoid mistakes and if any happen to occur, immediate corrective measures would be taken.
Since the group has continued to receive awards for continuous superior quality of products such as applying worldwide ISO standards, Ali has further created and imposed new systematic processes that have assisted quality assurance, creating synergy between departments in the Group, generated positive customer feedback, and helped keep all the procedures of every department in tact through the ERP system that he constructed.
